The organisers of the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne and the 2021 Winter Universiade in Lucerne have met in the Olympic capital to exchange ideas.

The Lucerne 2021 Organising Committee, along with Swiss University Sports, met with Lausanne 2020 to talk over how to best organise the events.

Lausanne 2020 were represented by Organising Committee President Viriginie Faivre and chief relationship and engagement officer Olivier Delapierre.

Discussions focused on how the committees could co-operate in organising two major multi-sport events in Switzerland within a year of each other.

"We had a great meeting with Lucerne 2021," said Faivre, appointed President of the Organising Committee in January.

"As we are both organising major sporting events in Switzerland, it was really important to talk about the collaboration and how we can gather the French part of Switzerland with the German part and what are the different objectives we can do together."

Swiss University Sports president Mike Kurt said: "I think for Switzerland it is a great opportunity as they are going to host three major events in the next 18 months: the Youth Olympic Games, the Ice Hockey World Championship and then the Universiade.

"For the legacy of Swiss sports, it is important that we benefit from each other and help create great experiences for the athletes."
