David Boudia and Caeleb Dressel are among the nominees for the male athlete of the month as the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee revealed it's finalists for the Best of July Team USA Awards.

A total of 10 sports, including triathlon, BMX, fencing, soccer, taekwondo and water polo, feature in the nominations, with sports fans being invited to vote for their favourite athletes and teams until midnight tomorrow (August 4).

Diver Boudia secured a US spot at Tokyo 2020 by finishing fifth in the men's three metres springboard contest at the World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju in South Korea. 

Dressel earned a staggering eight swimming medals in Gwangju, including six golds as he was crowned the male swimmer of the meet.

Among his accomplishments in Gwangju. Dressel also set a world record in the 100 metres butterfly event.

Tennis player Sam Querrey upset Dominic Thiem to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon for a fourth successive year and features in the list of nominees alongside taekwondo star Alex Lee, who captured Team USA's first gold at the Pan American Games in Lima when he won the men's poomsae competition.

Sam Kendricks set an American pole vault record at the United States of America Track and Field (USATF) Outdoor Championships as he recorded the highest outdoor jump in the world since 1994 in clearing 6.06 metres.

Dalilah Muhammad is nominated for the female athlete of the month in the Dow-presented awards, after she broke a 16-year-old world record in the 400 metres hurdles at the USATF Outdoor Championships.

Muhammad clocked 52.20sec in winning gold as she bettered Russian Yuliya Pechonkina's 2003 record by 0.14 seconds.

Also in the running as the Best of July female athlete is swimmer Simone Manuel, winner of the 50m and 100m freestyle events in Gwangju as she claimed seven World Aquatics Championship medals in South Korea.

At the same Championships, diver Delaney Schnell became the first American woman in 14 years to medal in the women's 10m platform final as she scooped bronze and a US quota spot at Tokyo 2020.

Triathlete Summer Rappaport backed up bronze at the International Triathlon Union World Triathlon Series event in Hamburg with a silver medal in Edmonton as she claimed a fourth consecutive podium finish in the current season.

BMX rider Alise Willoughby completes the women's nominees after winning a second world title in three years at the 2019 International Cycling Union BMX Racing World Championships.

The team of the month will be contested by the US women's soccer team after they won a second successive FIFA Women's World Cup and the US women's water polo team, winners of the World Championship title by defeating Spain 11-6 in Gwangju.

Also in the running for the team award is the US men's foil fencing team, which claimed the International Fencing Federation Senior World Championships for the first time and ended the season as World Cup winners.
