Delegates from Tokushima Prefectural Government in Japan visited Nepal to finalise the training programme for Nepali athletes in the month before next yer's Olympic Games in Tokyo. 

The visiting officials were the chief of the International Sports and Exchange Office, Takahito Akiyama, and Yohei Minato, senior staff member of the International Sports and Exchange Office.

President of the Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) Jeevan Ram Shrestha met the delegates and confirmed that five participants in archery and five participants in swimming, comprising four athletes and one coach, would train for a month in Tokushima in the build-up to the Games.

He thanked the Tokushima Prefectural Government for their support and said the relationship between Nepal and Japan would only grow stronger in the future.

The delegates also visited the swimming and archery training camps and talked to the coaches about their requirements.

Tokyo 2020 is scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 9 next year.

Nepal is yet to win an Olympic medal.

Taekwondo athlete Bidham Lama took a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul but that was not counted as an official medal since taekwondo was an exhibition sport at the Games.

Meanwhile, 50 sprinters and coaches took part in a one-day workshop in the Olympic Building organised by the Athlete Society Track and Field in cooperation with the NOC.
