England's Matthew Fitzpatrick has fired himself into the lead at the 2019 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational World Golf Championship event at TPC Southwind in Memphis inTennessee with a second round of 64.

The 24-year-old shot a six-under par round to move into a two-shot lead going into the weekend on nine-under overall.

He birdied seven of the 18 holes on Friday and bogeyed just one as he seeks his first ever PGA tour win.

"The golf course probably suits me more than most," Fitzpatrick said.

"If you miss a fairway, you don't know how it's going to come out of the rough so that makes it tougher."
