Downhill medals were won today at the second World Roller Games in Barcelona ©World Skate

Colombia’s Diego Posada and Italy’s Martina Paciolla won the men’s and women’s downhill titles in Barcelona today at the second edition of the World Roller Games. 

Each won their respective inline time trial on the Parc de Montjuïc – Passeig del Migdia circuit.

In the street luge time trial, Brazil’s Alexandre Cerri Machado took gold.

Posada earned his victory by just 0.02 seconds from Behr Sylvain of France, with Luca Presti of Italy third.

Paciolla grabbed gold ahead of compatriot Claudia Massara, winning by 0.07sec.

Germany’s Annalena Rettenberger secured bronze.

Machado won his gold ahead of American Ryan Farmer and another Brazilian, Walter Andre Werbinski Ribeiro.

Home athlete Mikel Echegaray, double world champion in street luge and buttboard in 2015, had to settle for fourth place.

Meanwhile, freestyle riders in scooter, skateboarding and roller freestyle took part in qualifying sessions at Palau Sant Jordi and Explanada de l'Anella Olímpica ahead of the weekend’s finals.

In the roller freestyle there were standout performances from Manon Derrien, Chichiro Azuma and Sara Vilella in women’s competition, and in the men’s from Christopher Wellsmore, Jeremy Melique and Maxime Genoud.

Cody Flom of the United States and Alexandra Madsen from New Zealand topped their respective competitions in scooter.
