Chinese Taipei and Britain were standout performers in the senior divisions at the World Taekwondo President’s Cup for the Oceania region in Gold Coast, winning three gold medals each.

Su Po-ya was among Chinese Taipei’s trio of winners at the Australian city's Carrara Indoor Stadium after she beat Morocco’s Oumaima El Bouchti in the women’s under-53 kilograms final.

There was also success for Huang Sheng-lun and Lee Meng-en in all-Taiwanese finals in the men’s under-63kg and men's under-87kg categories, respectively.

Huang defeated Hou Kuang-wu, while Lee overcame Hsieh Ming-kun.

Britain’s three triumphs came courtesy of Christian McNeish in the men’s under-68kg, Lauren Williams in the women’s under-67kg and Mahama Cho in the men’s over-87kg.

McNeish beat Chinese Taipei’s Huang Yu-jen to claim his first title since capturing a European gold medal in May 2018.

Victory for Williams was also a welcome return to form with the Welsh athlete accounting for South Korean Kim Jan-di in her final.

"Off the back of two poor performances, I have been able to get a feel for what I am missing," Williams, the reigning World Taekwondo Grand Slam champion, said.

"This was the perfect chance to put that into practice and learn from my mistakes."

"It’s my first time in Australia and I haven’t been disappointed.

"Being so far from home can be tough but it’s been everything I expected – nice weather, lovely people and a good competition venue."

As for Cho, the 2017 world silver medallist, he sealed victory with a win over French Polynesia’s Manu Huaatua.

China, South Korea and Russia all claimed two senior gold medals today.

Wu Jiayi and Zhang Yanying prevailed for China with the former defeating Russia's Natalia Antipenko in the women's under-46kg final and the latter overcoming South Korea's Kim So-hui in the women's under-49kg gold medal match.

South Korea's titles came on the back of wins for Lee Da-bin over France's Marie Paule Ble in the women's under-73kg final and Kim Seok-bae in the men's under-74kg gold medal match, while Russia's came courtesy of Mikhail Artamonov in the men's under-58kg and Maksim Khramtcov in the men's under-80kg.

Artamonov beat Chinese Taipei's Wang Chen-yu to top honours and Khramtcov defeated fellow countryman Anton Kotkov in his final.

Today's other senior finals saw Belgium's Raheleh Asemani overcome Chinese Taipei's Chen Yu-chuang in the women's under-57kg, Colombia's María Helena Álvarez Lozano beat the United States' Ara White in the women's under-62kg, France's Solène Avoulette defeat compatriot Anne-Caroline Graffe in the women's over-73kg, and Japan's Ryuta Matsui get the better of India's Aman Kumar in the men's under-54kg.
