Brazil won the International Equestrian Federation Jumping Nations Cup event in Geesteren as they ended on eight faults at the Dutch course.

Felipe Amaral was the star for the South Americans as he was the only rider in the competition to go double clear.

He did so on 12-year-old stallion Germanico T as Brazil prepared perfectly for the Pan American Games in Lima which begin next month and serve as a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Hosts The Netherlands were second today, finishing on 16 faults, as Spain's 28 faults placed them third.

"They were all amazing today," said Brazil's Chef d'Equipe Pedro Paulo Lacarda.

"For the Pan American Games I still wait one week to confirm my team, but this team have a good chance."

Brazil's win saw them improve on a sixth-placed finish in Sopot in Poland last week, while they came fifth in both St Gallen in Switzerland and La Baule in France in May.

Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Pedro Junqueira Muylaert, riding Sirene de la Motte and C'est Dorijke respectively, both tallied just four faults each for Brazil after their two rounds.

Pedro Veniss went clear during his first round with Quabri de L Isle and did not take to the course for a second time.

All of the events are part of the Europe Division One League.

"We are not just team-mates but also friends," said Veniss.

"We really support each other to make it happen and winning the biggest class in the world with your best friends is really special."

The overall Jumping Nations Cup leaderboard is led by France on 260 points, in front of Belgium on 245 and Germany on 195.
