Hosts Tahiti claimed an 11-6 win over reigning champions Solomon Islands to join their opponents in qualifying for the final of the Oceania Football Confederation Beach Soccer Nations Cup.

Ariihau Teriitau scored three of Tahiti's goals as they moved to the top of the group-stage standings with a third victory from as many matches at Aorai Tini Hau in Papeete.

There were also braces for Tearii Labaste, Heimanu Taiarui, Heiarii Tavanae and Patrick Tepa.

Solomon Islands, who had qualified for the final yesterday, registered through braces from Thompson Peter and Roy Mafane as well as one for captain James Naka and an Angelo Tchen own goal.

Today's other game saw New Caledonia thrash Tonga 10-1 to pick up their first win of the tournament.

They sit in fourth place and will play Tahiti tomorrow in the last round of group matches after bottom side Tonga's clash with third-place Vanuatu.

Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Tonga are all still in contention to qualify for the bronze medal match by finishing in either third or fourth spot.

Either Tahiti or the Solomon Islands will qualify for this year's FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, due to take place in Paraguay from November 21 to December 1.
