World champions Serbia bounced back from their loss against 2018 winners the United States as they beat the Dominican Republic in four sets in the International Volleyball Federation Women's Nations League.

Serbia dropped the second set but regained their composure to secure a 25-17, 18-25, 25-12, 25-19 win in the pool five match at Zoppas Arena in Conegliano in Italy. 

The result came a day after Serbia, who clinched the world title in Japan last year, were condemned to their second defeat of this season's Nations League by the US.

Turkey also recovered from a loss yesterday, defeating Germany in straight sets in front of their home crowd at Başkent Volleyball Hall in Ankara.

The Turkish side returned to form by winning the pool six contest 25-21, 25-16, 25-15.

In the other game in the group, Japan built on their triumph over Turkey as they overcame Russia 25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 26-24.

The South American team levelled the match after losing the opening two sets but fell to a 25-20, 25-22, 26-28, 18-25, 15-9.

China, who are guaranteed a place in the final round as they are due to host the six-team event in July, claimed their second consecutive victory in pool seven at Macau East Asian Games Dome.

The Chinese team were comfortable 25-16, 25-20, 25-14 winners over Belgium.

South Korea were unable to join China on two wins as they lost 25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20 to Thailand.
