New Zealand, Ukraine and Uruguay recorded their second group stage victories to progress to the last 16 at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Poland.

Uruguay and New Zealand claimed the two available places in the knockout round from Group C.

The South American side earned a comfortable 2-0 win over Honduras, who had lost their opener 5-0 to New Zealand, at Lublin Stadium in Lublin.

Uruguay went ahead four minutes before half-time through Nicolas Acevedo but were made to wait until the 92nd minute to seal all three points as Nicolas Schiappacasse rounded off a superb counter-attack.

New Zealand overcame Norway by the same scoreline as they scored twice in the final 20 minutes.

Gianni Stensness broke the deadlock before a John Kitolano own goal ensured New Zealand joined Uruguay in the last 16.

Ukraine are also through after they beat 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar 1-0 in Group C at Tychy Stadium in Tychy.

The result of the match was settled just before the hour mark when Denys Popov headed home a pinpoint cross from Serhii Buletsa.

The tournament continues tomorrow.
