New Zealand crushed Honduras 5-0 in their opening match of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Poland to record the nation's biggest win in the tournament's history. 

Honduras's Darwin Diego netted an early own goal at Arena Lublin and Ben Waine then bagged a brace, with Sarpeet Singh adding another five minutes into the second half.

Matthew John Conroy completed the rout in stoppage time.

In the other Group C clash, Uruguay eased past Norway 3-1. 

There was another high-scoring fixture in Group D, with Nigeria putting four unanswered goals past Qatar. 

Maxwell Effom, Henry Offia, Tom Dele-Bashiru and Olasunkanmi Aliyu got on the scoresheet.

Ukraine narrowly beat the United States 2-1, Denys Popv scoring the winner.

Tomorrow, Portugal take on South Korea in Group F, before Argentina meet South Africa.

In Group E, France play Saudi Arabia while Panama come up against Mali.
