World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue and International Judo Federation (IJF) President Marius Vizer have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the World Taekwondo Championships here.

Choue is also President of the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation (THF), which will work with the two governing bodies.

The three organisations will develop close collaboration in promoting sport as a powerful vehicle towards peace, social development and integration of vulnerable populations, it is promised.

They will unite forces in areas where each already individually works.

Finally, they have promised to exchange and share expertise and information.

"We are delighted to partner with the IJF to enhance the support we can provide refugees around the world," Choue said.

"WT, THF and IJF have delivered many positive programmes in refugee camps and through this MoU our organisations will be able to work together, share information and ultimately deliver even greater opportunities for those who need it the most."

World Taekwodon had welcomed Vizer at a dinner at Etihad Stadium following its General Assembly yesterday.

"It is a great honour for the IJF to have this partnership," Vizer said.

"We have great experience and we have initiated many programmes in refugee camps.

"We are ready to be partners with mutual reciprocity and we will deliver a good example for world sport."

World Taekwondo have previously signed MoU's with United World Wrestling, the Badminton World Federation and the International Table Tennis Federation to help promote THF.
