Argentina increased to eight wins in 12 matches their recent record in the women's International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League after recording a resounding 4-0 victory over the United States.

The US could not capitalise on home support at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, conceding a goal from Agustina Albertarrio inside four minutes.

Carla Rebecchi then extended Argentina's lead in the third quarter, before Victoria Granatto scored twice to put the match beyond doubt.

“I’m very happy because I think we played a great match," said Rebecchi, who came out of an 18-month retirement in September 2018.

“We really played very well.

We’ve been working all this week and have been training very good, so its nice when you can do it on the field as well and I’m really happy for the team.”

Their top-four place position seems guaranteed, with Belgium third on 72.22 per cent.

The best four teams in the league secure a place at June’s FIH Pro League Grand Final in Amsterdam and the FIH Olympic qualifiers, set to be staged later this year.

The FIH Pro League continues next weekend with matches taking place in Lancaster and London.
