Big White in Canada has been added to the list of venues for next season's International Ski Federation Snowboard Cross World Cup circuit.

The Canadian resort will host an individual and team event in January following confirmation from FIS.

According to FIS, it means Canada will be the only country to stage a World Cup in all Olympic and Paralympic disciplines in 2020.

The competition will also be the first Snowboard Cross World Cup event held in Big White since 2013.

"Big White is the perfect location to host the Snowboard Cross World Cup as it has the ideal terrain for a world-class course and has been a tremendous partner with a wealth of experience in hosting major snowboard cross events," said Canada Snowboard executive director Dustin Heise.

"Canada Snowboard will have a World Cup event in 2020 for every snowboard discipline.

"Creating a pinnacle event for all of our competition disciplines is a major leap for the sport in Canada and we’re thrilled to have this event as part of the tour."

Michael J. Ballingall, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at Big White Resort, said it will be an honour to welcome the world's top snowboard cross athletes for the World Cup event.

"Way back when we were one of the first resorts in Canada to embrace snowboarding, we built TELUS park and we welcomed the snowboard fraternity to one of the only dedicated super pipes and dedicated snowboard cross courses in Canada and now we will roll out the red carpet and welcome the world as we proudly host a Snowboard Cross World Cup next year," he added.
