Oman maintained their lead in the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League Division Two in Namibia after earning their third successive round-robin win today against Hong Kong.

A seven-wicket victory means Oman have six points, putting them two points clear of the hosts and the United States, who earned wins over Canada and Papua New Guinea, respectively.

The six-team tournament forms part of the 2017–2019 cycle of the World Cricket League which determines qualification for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Oman, promoted from Division Three last year, look strong favourites to gain ODI status and a place in the new ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 for 2019-2021 as one of the two top teams.

Oman responded to Hong Kong’s total of 176 at Wanderers Cricket Ground, Windhoek  with 117 for three, with Jatinder Singh top-scoring on 65.

Namibia beat Canada by 98 runs at Windhoek’s United Ground, having reached 258 for six in their 50 overs.

Canada were all out for 160 in 42.1 overs.

The United States were not overly exerted at Wanderers Affies Park in Windhoek as they passed the Papua New Guinea total of 127, making 128 without loss.

Tomorrow Oman will take on the hosts, while Hong Kong meet the United States and Papua New Guinea play Canada.
