Italian firm Balich Worldwide Shows will produce the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at the 2019 Summer Universiade in Naples, the Organising Committee has announced.

The company, based in Milan, has a long history of involvement at the world’s biggest multi-sport events.

In February it was revealed they will produce both ceremonies at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima.

In the past they have helped put together events, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at last year’s Asian Para Games in Indonesia, the flag Handover Ceremony at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

The firm also helped create both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin.

According to a statement sent to insidethegames, they were chosen to produce the ceremonies in Naples after a public competition.

"Returning to a ceremony in Italy after Turin is a wonderful joy," co-founder Marco Balich told the Italian newspaper Il Mattino.

"I hope I can contribute to providing the right perception that Naples and Campania deserve."

The Opening Ceremony in Naples is due to take place at the San Paolo Stadium on July 3.

The Closing Ceremony is then scheduled to take place 11 days later.
