Amelie Wenger-Reymond triumphed in the women’s sprint event at the International Ski Federation Telemark World Championships in Rjukan.

The Swiss skier proved the dominant force during the World Cup season and she impressed again in the Norwegian town.

The pre-race favourite completed the sprint distance event in 1min 45.24sec.

She was followed by France’s Argeline Tan Bouquet, who finished 1.25 seconds off the pace.

Germany’s Johanna Holzmann completed the podium places after clocking 1:46.87.

Switzerland celebrated double gold as Stefan Matter triumphed in the men’s sprint event, finishing in 1:35.81.

France’s Phillipe Lau proved his nearest challenger after he crossed the finish line 1.70 seconds behind the winning time.

Bronze was claimed by Jure Alea, the Slovenian skier ending 3.29 seconds behind Matter.

Switzerland’s double gold in the sprint competitions came after their victory in the mixed team parallel sprint event yesterday.

Germany and France completed the podium.

The Championships will conclude tomorrow with the parallel sprint events.
