Fort Lauderdale will host three important events for the Olympic Movement and the development of sport in the Americas this December, Panam Sports has announced.

This trio of events will begin on December 10 with the start of the first-ever Regional SportAccord Pan America Convention, a new exhibition specifically tailored to continental sport.

The Convention marks the first networking and conference event to bring the Pan American and the Olympic and non-Olympic communities together in one location.

It will gather the most influential leaders of sport in the Americas along with cities and regions, sports commissions, marketing and sponsorship companies, media rights, finance, education and sports equipment manufacturers.

After the Convention closes, the fourth edition of the Americas Best Practices Symposium, organised by Panam Sports and the United States Olympic Committee, will welcome sport leaders from 41 countries throughout the continent.

It is there that Olympic leaders, Sports Ministers and Government authorities will learn how to better support athletes as they strive for gold medals and glory in international competitions.

The Symposium also aims to strengthen the bonds between sport bodies and Government leaders, which Panam Sports claims is critical for the future success of sport in the Americas.

It will cover the gamut from high-level sport performance, Sport for All and long-term athlete development, to supporting athletes as they transition to a career outside international competition.

The Regional SportAccord Pan America Convention exhibition floor will remain open for an extra two days to accommodate attendees of the Americas Best Practices Symposium, which is due to take place on December 13 and 14.

In addition, Panam Sports is opening 50 delegate spots exclusively for attendees of the Regional SportAccord Pan America Convention who also wish to attend the Americas Best Practices Symposium.

The spacious and versatile Broward Convention Center will host both of these events with more than 600 attendees expected to participate throughout the week.

Furthermore, on December 13, Panam Sports will present the inaugural Panam Sports Gala at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort and Spa.

The best athletes and the most inspiring performances from the largest and most important multi-sport event in the Americas - the Pan American Games - will be honoured.

The 2019 Pan American Games are scheduled to be held from July 26 to August 11 in Peru's capital Lima, featuring more sports, more athletes and more Olympic qualifiers than any of the previous 17 editions.

Panam Sports, the representative body of all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) across North and South America, is offering 50 VIP tickets for the Panam Sports Gala exclusively to Regional SportAccord Pan America Convention attendees.

"Panam Sports vastly appreciates the commitment to promoting sport in the Americas by this beautiful city of Fort Lauderdale," Panam Sports President Neven Ilic said.

"With scenic beaches and facilities like the great Broward Convention Center, we are sure that these three important events will be incredibly successful.

"Panam Sports is excited to make history with this fantastic city by hosting the first Panam Sports Gala where we will celebrate the heart of Americas' Olympic Movement - our athletes."

In January, the leaders of Panam Sports held key discussions on their future priorities and plans.

Following the approval of the Panam Sports strategic plan at its General Assembly in September 2018, the body said it was looking to "implement and emphasise" the changes and priorities established within it.

The strategic plan is based on four key pillars - the athletes, the NOCs, the Pan American Games and Panam Sports itself.

Created with the assistance of LBB Strategies, it has been described as a "modernised vision" of the organisation for between 2018 and 2023.
