The Nigerian gained the accolade after taking part in a course at the Taekwondowon in Muju in South Korea.

It means he is now certified to teach other coaches in Nigeria with the project designed to improve standards across the world.

During the course in Muju, he studied aspects of taekwondo including competition rules, safeguarding athletes, anti-doping, medical and emergency management.

World Taekwondo's history and culture were also part of the course.

Chukwumerije is the only Nigerian to win an Olympic taekwondo medal.

He claimed bronze in the over-80 kilograms division at Beijing 2008.

The Nigerian lost his semi-final to Greece's Alexandros Nikolaidis but then beat Akmal Irgashev of Uzbekistan to earn a place on the podium.
