Argentina won both the men and women's rugby finals at the 2019 South American Beach Games ©Rosario 2019

Hosts Argentina defeated Chile in the final of the men's and women's rugby event at the 2019 South American Beach Games in Rosario.

The men's team edged past Chile 6-5, while the women's team recorded a 7-5 victory. 

Venezuela took the bronze medal in the men's competition with a 7-6 win over Ecuador and Paraguay thrashed Venezuela 8-2 to finish third in the women's event. 

Argentina lost in the men's and women's beach volleyball final, however, Uruguay defeating the men 21-19, 21-19.

The women's team was beaten 21-18, 21-19 by Brazil. 

Medals were also awarded in the open water competition at the Blue Stadium. 

Peru's Marina Bramont was triumphant in the women's five kilometres event in a time of 53min 05sec.

Venezuela's Paola Pérez and Liliana Hernández finished second and third in 54:02 and 54:04 respectively. 

Ecuador secured a clean sweep in the men's 5km, Diego Vera taking the gold medal in 51:37.25.

His compatriots David Farinango and David Castro won the silver and bronze medals with times of 51:58.14 and 52:19.45 respectively.

Handball made its debut at the Games, with Peru winning 2-1 against Colombia and Venezuela defeating Ecuador 2-1 in the men's preliminary round.
