A questionnaire aimed at examining the "prevalence of doping behaviour in Europe" will be distributed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to athletes competing at this year's European Games in Minsk.

The European Olympic Committees (EOC) confirmed WADA would conduct the study at the event for the first time as it announced details of a new partnership signed with the global anti-doping watchdog.

The agreement will include "scientific research, education and development of anti-doping capacities", according to the EOC.

The questionnaire, being led by a WADA working group, forms part of this agreement.

The EOC claim the study will be "conducted in a non-intrusive fashion, with athletes voluntarily completing the questionnaire in an anonymous and confidential way".

The continental body also said specific sports or nations with a particular doping risk and where there have been a high number of cases would be targeted.

WADA has encouraged all athletes competing at the second edition of the European Games, due to run from June 21 to 30 in the Belarusian capital, to take part in the survey.

The EOC also confirmed WADA would conduct an independent observers' programme at Minsk 2019 with a view to providing recommendations on how the drugs-testing system can be improved for future European Games.

A WADA outreach programme will also be held at the Games, the EOC said.
