The deputy director of Beijing 2022's sports department has claimed that most of the competition venues for the upcoming edition of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games will be ready for test events next year.

Wang Yanxia, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, also told Xinhua that China is preparing for 15 Olympic test events and five Paralympic test events this year.

Beijing 2022 announced in September 2018 that the first official Olympic test event will be held at the National Alpine Ski Centre in Yanqing District in February 2020.

Wang reiterated that this will be the case, but admitted that China is lacking somewhat in professional personnel for organising competitions, referees and technical officials.

Xinhua reports that in response to this, China has taken a series of measures to establish a professional and international team.

Wang claimed that 1,000 domestic technical officials for all the 15 disciplines of Beijing 2022 have been prepared and that 25 international experts in planning and organising competitions were brought in last year.

Another 470 domestic personnel are said to have been trained through competitions held both at home and abroad.

"Besides, specialised postgraduates have been jointly cultivated by universities and sports authorities," Wang added.

Former world champion Ryan Stassel recently praised the slopestyle course which will be used at Beijing 2022.

The American snowboarder was among those to test the venue in Secret Garden at an International Ski Federation World Cup held there in December 2018.
