The United States' Race Imboden and Russia's Inna Deriglazova will be looking to justify their world number one rankings when they compete in the respective men's and women's events at the International Fencing Federation (FIE) World Cup in Cairo this weekend.

Imboden, the three-time world team silver medallist, headlines a men's field that includes the top-10-ranked fencers. 

World champion Alessio Foconi of Italy is ranked second with Great Britain's Richard Kruse third and Russia's Alexey Cheremisinov fourth.

Nine of the top-10-ranked women will also be in action at the Cairo Stadium's Indoor Halls' Complex, led by reigning Olympic champion and two-time world champion Deriglazova.

World champion Alice Volpi of Italy is ranked second, while the US's Lee Kiefer is third and Tunisia's Ines Boubakri is fourth.

Egypt's capital is hosting the fourth FIE Foil World Cup of the season.

Individual competition will be spread across tomorrow and Saturday (March 2).

It will be followed by the team events on Sunday (March 3).
