Israel's Guy Firer was the leading scorer in men's open wakeboard qualification on day seven of competition at the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation World Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Championships in Buenos Aires.

Firer finished top of the Group G standings with 81.67 points at the Argentinean capital's Pampa Cable Park.

Joining him in going through to the quarter-finals was Australia's James Windsor with 59.00 points.

Among the other qualifiers were Italy's Riccardo De Tollis and Great Britain's Liam Peacock from Group A, Germany's Dominik Gührs and Croatia's Marko Gacic from Group B, France's Theo Balsa and The Netherlands' Jasper Van Suchtelen van de Haare from Group C and The Philippines' Raphael Trinidad and Brazil's Pedro Caldas from Group D.

Completing the list are Israel's Ziv Zavaro and Germany's Max Milde from Group E, Germany's Ariano Blanik and Britain's Ryan Peacock from Group F, and Israel's Lior Sofer and Russia's Nick Volokhov from Group H.

The other four riders in each group are due to contest the last chance qualifiers tomorrow.

They will be immediately followed by the quarter-finals.

Also held today were the last chance qualifiers in the women's open wakeboard event.

China's Zhen Kun Duan progressed from Group A with 58.00 points, while Italy's Claudia Pagnini, Japan's Reina Kurata and Russia's Irina Ignateva advanced from Groups B, C and D with 58.00, 53.00 and 50.67 respectively.

In the men's open wakeskate last chance qualifiers there was success for France's Maxime Giry in Group A with 50.00 points, Austria's David Lang in Group B with 55.33 and Italy's Maurizio Marassi in Group C with 52.67.
