The crowd at the Calgary Olympic Park were able to celebrate a Canadian one-two in the women’s halfpipe competition.

Sharpe began the event in impressive fashion as her first run was rewarded with a score of 91.50 points from the judges.

Similarly to yesterday’s snowboard event, the top first run score proved enough to top the podium at the end of the competition.

It was Sharpe's first World Cup win of the season, while her team-mate Rachael Karker ended as the runner-up on 86.00 points.

China’s Zhang Kexin scored 84.50 points in her third and final run to secure the final podium position.

Karker assumed the World Cup lead following her second place finish, topping the overall standings on 210 points.

She is followed by Zhang, who lies in second on 196.

Double Olympic champion David Wise claimed victory in the men’s competition, with his first round score of 90.00 points still heading the standings after three rounds.

The American was followed by New Zealand Nico Porteous, who scored 87.75 points to finish in second position.

There was further cause for Canadian celebration as Noah Bowman earned the hosts third podium of the day.

Bowman finished in third place with a score of 85.50.

The World Cup standings are led by Porteous on 210 points, with Canada’s Simon d’Artois in second on 176 after his seventh place finish in Calgary.

The event marked the first time since 2014 Calgary had held a freeski halfpipe competition.

The season is due to conclude with the final World Cup event at Mammoth Mountain Resort in the United States from March 6 to 9.
