Defending champions Canada will face the United States in the final of the Pan Am Mixed Team Badminton Championships in Lima. 

Canada won their semi-final against Cuba at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento La Videna in Lima to set up the clash with the US.

The mixed doubles pair of Joshua Hurlburt-Yu and Josephine Wu gained Canada's first point when they defeated Osleni Guerrero and Taymara Oropesa Pupo 21-14, 15-21, 21-13.

Brittany Tam added to their tally when she beat Marianne Gonzalez Ortiz 21-8, 21-13, but Brian Yang had to fight against Guerrero to ensure Canada's progress to the final.

Yang won the first set 21-13, but lost the second 22-24. 

He then triumphed in the third set 21-16 to win the tie that had lasted 57 minutes. 

With Canada through, the US and Brazil met to decide who would face them in the final.

The first point went to Brazil, with Artur Silva Pomoceno and Lohaynny Vicente defeating Phillip Chew and Breanna Chi 22-20 21-19.

Jennie Gai then brought the tie level, winning against Fabiana Silva 21-18, 21-13.

Brazil went back in front through Pomoceno, who beat Andrew Zhang 21-13, 21-8 in the men's singles. 

From here, the US staged a successful comeback, Kuei-Ya Chen and Gai triumphing 23-21, 21-15 in the women's doubles against Lohaynny Vicente and Luana Vicente. 

Phillip Chew and Ryan Chew then won the deciding match, defeating Fabricio Farias and Francielton Farias 21-11, 21-16 to put the United States in the final.

Brazil beat Cuba 3-0 to take third place, while Mexico won against hosts Peru 3-1 to come fifth.

Guatemala secured seventh after defeating Dominican Republic 3-0.

The final between Canada and the US is due to take place tomorrow.
