Olympic champion Maren Lundby continued her dominant run of form as she recorded a sixth consecutive International Ski Federation Ski Jumping World Cup victory in Ljubno in Slovenia.

The World Cup holder produced two jumps of 90.5 metres to earn a total of 268.9 points and begin the weekend in ominous fashion.

The Norwegian finished 5.2 points ahead of nearest challenger Sara Takanashi of Japan, who managed efforts of 90m and 88.5m.

Home favourite Urša Bogataj claimed her first World Cup podium as she ended the competition in third place having scored 262.6 points.

German Katharina Althaus' bid to get back to winning ways ended in disappointment as she was fourth on 260.9 points.

Victory for Lundby saw her extend her comfortable lead at the summit of the overall standings as she now sits on 1,088 points.

Althaus remains in second place on 917, with Takanashi thrid on 706.

"I am very happy about today’s win, I did not expect it after yesterday’s jumps," said Lundby.

"We made a good plan for today and it seems to have worked out just fine.

"The atmosphere at the hill in Ljubno is always special, the best one in the World Cup.

"I think tomorrow’s team event will be great, many nations shall be fighting for top spots."

The women's World Cup in the Slovenian resort continues with the team competition tomorrow, while the men participate in their opening individual event in Lahti.
