Norway rounded off the last competition in Ulricehamn in Sweden in style with victory in the women's relay and will be out for further success in the Finnish city. 

Sprint races are the focus at the event in Lahti, taking place alongside World Cups in Nordic combined and ski jumping.

The competition is due to begin tomorrow with the qualification and finals for men and women in the sprint freestyle discipline before team relays are scheduled to bring the event to a close on Sunday (February 10).

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, winner of three Olympic gold medals at Pyeongchang 2018, will be among the favourites in the men's race.

The 22-year-old Norwegian has claimed 12 individual sprint victories in the classic and freestyle techniques, the joint-third most of all-time among men alongside Federico Pellegrino of Italy.

Klæbo leads the way on the overall standings with a total of 1,034 points, 88 in front of nearest challenger Alexander Bolshunov of Russia.

In the women's events, Norway's Ingvild Flugstad Østberg and Maiken Caspersen Falla could be among the contenders for victory.

Sweden has won five of the last six women's team sprint events on the World Cup circuit.

The event is the penultimate World Cup before the World Championships are due to begin in Seefeld in Austria on February 20.
