Competition, which is scheduled to begin tomorrow, will be spread across six days at the Turkish city’s Maritim Hotel Convention Center.

Women’s cadets will take centre stage tomorrow before men’s cadets do so on Friday (February 8).

Women’s and men’s juniors action will then be held on Saturday (February 9) and Sunday (February 10) respectively before competition is held in the women’s seniors on Monday (February 11) and men’s seniors on Tuesday (February 12).

Among the 431 athletes competing across the men’s senior categories is Rio 2016 Olympic gold medallist Radik Isayev of Azerbaijan and world silver medallist Mahama Cho of Britain.

Other notable names are Spain’s Jesús Tortosa Cabrera, who is currently number two in both the Olympic and World Taekwondo rankings, and Belgium’s Jaouad Achab.

A total of 281 athletes are competing across the women’s senior divisions, including Serbia’s Milica Mandić and Tijana Bogdanović.

Mandić was the over-67 kilograms Olympic champion at London 2012, while Bogdanović claimed the 49kg silver medal at Rio 2016.

Also expected to be in contention for female honours are France’s Haby Niaré, Spain’s Marta Calvo Gómez, and Britons Lauren Williams and Bianca Walkden, a two-time world champion in the over-73kg category.

The winners will secure direct qualification for the 2020 European Taekwondo Championships, which are due to take place in Serbia's capital Belgrade.
