Rednall comfortably won the first set 11-2 before Forrest came from behind in the second to take it 8-7 and then prevailed 2-1 in the tie-break at Potters Resort in Norfolk.

Defeat for Rednall shatters her hopes of claiming a fourth women's singles title in six years following her triumphs in 2014, 2017 and 2018.

Forrest, meanwhile, will go on to contest the final tomorrow, when she faces the Channel Islands' Alison Merrien, a 9-4, 9-3 victor at the expense of newly-crowned mixed pairs champion Ellen Falkner of England. 

The men's singles event also continued today with reigning champion Mark Dawes of England beating Scotland's Michael Stepney 9-6, 7-7 in the second round.

Standing between him and a place in the semi-finals is another Scot, Stewart Anderson, who progressed through to the last eight yesterday.

Also tasting victory was England's Simon Skelton at the expense of Wales' Jason Greenslade, winning by a scoreline of 6-6, 6-5.

His quarter-final opponent will be the winner of tomorrow's match between England's Mervyn King and Scotland's Darren Burnett.
