The International Ski Federation (FIS) is hopeful the Snowboard World Cup due to begin in Laax in Switzerland tomorrow will take place as planned, despite training being cancelled for the second day in a row as a result of poor weather conditions.

It comes as heavy snow continues to cause disruption across parts of Europe.

"It's still dumping in @LaaxSwitzerland, so no training for the second day in row at the #laaxopen," the FIS tweeted.

"The forecast is calling for better weather tomorrow so fingers crossed for then."

Qualification in the women's slopestyle competition is scheduled for tomorrow and will be followed by that in men's and women's halfpipe and men's slopestyle on Wednesday (January 16).

Following slopestyle semi-finals on Thursday (January 17), the slopestyle and halfpipe finals are set to be held on Friday (January 18) and Saturday (January 19) respectively.

Japan's Takeru Otsuka currently tops the men's overall World Cup park and pipe standings with 4,100 points.

The United States' Chris Corning is second with 2,890 points and Japan's Ruki Tobita is third with 1,655.

In the women’s overall World Cup standings, Japan's Miyabi Onitsuka leads the way with 4,400 points.

Compatriot Reira Iwabuchi is second on 3,650 points, while Austria's Anna Gasser is third on 2,400.
