Masters claimed two gold medals at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics in the women's cross-country sitting class.

Her titles, in middle distance and sprint, came despite her injuring her elbow. 

Following this, she was elected as US flagbearer for the Paralympics Closing Ceremony and became the second-ever Paralympian to be honoured as individual sportswoman of the year at the Women's Sports Foundation Annual Salute to Women in Sports in October. 

Her two national titles at the Craftsbury Outdoor Centre in Craftsbury came in the same events she triumphed in at Pyeongchang.

"My goal during Nationals this year was to focus on all the aspects of the race - the hills, the turns - and really try to perfect my all-around race," Masters said. 

"My elbow is feeling stronger and I'm working to get it back to 100 per cent."

Dan Cnossen also won twice at the event, retaining his titles in the men's sitting class in middle distance and sprint.

Grace Miller was named the national champion in the women's standing cross-country sprint while Ruslan Reiter became national champion in the men's equivalent. 

David Collins won the title in the men's visually impaired cross-country sprint.  

US athletes will now compete at the second stop of the World Para Nordic Skiing World Cup circuit in Ostersund, Sweden from January 12 to 19.
