European University Sports Association choose Spanish student as winner of #myeusa photo competition

The European University Sports Association have announced the winner of its #myeusa photo competition at Coimbra 2018 ©EUSA

The European University Sports Association (EUSA) has chosen a picture by Spanish student Jose Miguel Cazorla Bernal as the winner of its 2018 of its #myeusa photo competition.

The picture had to be taken during the European Universities Games held in Coimbra in Portugal last summer.

A total of 10 photos were selected, with final voting conducted by the EUSA Commissions and by the public on Facebook.

The picture taken by Bernal, a student of San Jorge University, was of a Coimbra 2018-branded rugby ball taken during a training session for the rugby sevens tournament.

The winner will receive a new GoPro 6 camera.

When British skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean won the Olympic gold medal in ice dance at Sarajevo 1984 with 12 perfect 6.0s from every judge, for their interpretation of Maurice Ravel's Boléro, an important member of their team was singer-actor Michael Crawford. Crawford, who had played Frank Spencer in British sitcom Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em and the title role in the musical The Phantom of the Opera, had become a mentor to the pair in 1981 and went on to help them create their Olympic routine. Crawford said he “taught them how to act". He was present with their trainer Betty Callaway at the ringside at Sarajevo as they created one of the most iconic moments in Olympic history.
