Canada's Crispin Duenas and United States' Brady Ellison were among the top qualifiers in the men's recurve event at the Indoor Archery World Series event in Rome.

The duo featured on the second day of qualification at the Fiera di Roma Convention Centre in the Italian capital.

Duenas achieved a score of 593 at the event, which is also known as the Roma Archery Trophy.

His effort was matched by Ellison, as the American hit the 10 ring on 54 occasions, as well as firing seven into the nine ring.

Ukraine's Viktor Ruban was the third highest qualifier on a total of 587.

South Korea's Chaeyun Kim remained at the top of the women’s recurve qualification standings on a score of 590.

Her compatriot Sim Yeji was second on 588, with current World Cup leader Casey Kaufhold of the US ending third on 584.

The Netherlands' Mike Schloesser and South Korea's So Chaewon were confirmed as the top qualifiers in the men's and women's compound events respectively.

Individual matches are set to take place tomorrow, when the event concludes.

The event is the last major archery competition of 2018.

More than 600 archers are competing in all.
