Sweden and Finland progressed to the semi-finals of the International Floorball Federation (IFF) Men's World Championships in Prague after winning their quarter-final encounters today. 

Sweden thrashed Latvia 14-1 in the opening last eight contest of the day at the O2 Arena to set up a tie against Switzerland in the semi-finals.

Finland then overcame Germany 6-1 and will now meet hosts Czech Republic in the final four.

The two sides remain on course to reach the final for the seventh time in a row.

They have faced each other in nine of the past 11 World Championships finals.

A number of final standings were also decided today, with Slovakia taking 9th place with a 7-5 win against Estonia at the Arena Sparta.

Canada narrowly beat Australia 6-5 to secure 11th place, while Poland dominated against Thailand 9-1 to finish 13th.

15th place went to Japan after they secured a 4-2 victory over Singapore. 

The semi-finals will take place tomorrow at the O2 Arena, as will the games between the losers of the quarter-finals, which will determine their final position at the tournament.

The final is then scheduled to be held on Sunday (December 9).
