The final day’s competition at the World Shooting Para Sport European 10 metres Championships in Belgrade produced world records in two of the three events contested thanks to home shooter Dragan Ristic and Ukraine’s Irina Shchetnik.

Ristic brought the first version of these Championships to have been held for five years to a resounding conclusion in the Belexpocentar indoor arena as he produced a world and European record total of 255.8 points in the mixed R5 air rifle prone SH2 event.

His total bettered the world mark of 255.7 set by Italy’s Andrea Liverani on September 20 this year.

Turkey’s Hakan Cevic claimed silver with 254.6, and bronze went to Ukraine’s Vasyl Kovalchuk, who totalled 232.6.

Shchetnik shot a world, European and world junior record of 249.6 points in the women’s R2 air rifle standing SH1 event.

That surpassed the world record of 248.9 set by China’s Bai Xiachong in May this year.

Slovakia’s Veronika Vadovicova took silver with 248.0 points, ahead of Turkey’s Cagla Atakal, who scored 223.9.

Krisztina David of Hungary won gold in the first of the three finals to be contested women’s P2 air pistol SH1 event with 232.3 points.

She finished clear of silver medallist Aysegul Pehlivanlar of Turkey, who totalled 229.9, with bronze going to her compatriot Aysel Ozgan, who scored 209.9.
