Dutchwoman Lisa Bunschoten claimed the gold medal for the second World Para Snowboard World Cup in succession today, beating Spain’s Astrid Fina Paredes to win the women’s snowboard cross lower limb two impairment one division in Pyha.

The Paralympic silver medallist triumphed in the one-on-one final in Finland, having also won the lower limb two impairment class two banked slalom event in Landgraaf earlier this month.

The 23-year-old crossed the line in 43.24sec to earn another 1,000 points towards the overall World Cup standings.

Her compatriot Anne Garttener won the bronze medal race against yet another Dutchwoman, Renske van Beek.

Elsewhere today two gold medals were claimed by the United States.

In the days second final Mike Minor took the spoils, beating Australia’s Simon Patmore in the upper limb one division.

He crossed the line in 38.12, just 0.32 seconds ahead of Patmore.

In that category the bronze medal was won by Italy’s Jacopo Luchini, who, in another one-on-one race, beat Austria’s Patrick Mayrhofer.

The second gold medal for the US came in the very next final when reigning Paralympic champion Mike Schultz beat Chris Vos from The Netherlands in the lower limb one impairment one class.

Like Bunschoten, Vos was looking to win for the second World Cup event in a row, but unlike Bunschoten, he had to settle for the silver medal today.

It was incredibly close though, as 37-year-old Schultz crossed the line just one-hundrdedth of a second ahead.

The bronze medal in that event was won by another American, Noah Elliott.
