All three top seeds began the round-robin phase at the Wheelchair Tennis Masters with victories in Orlando.

Japan's Shingo Kunieda began the men's competition with a 6-4, 6-1 win over France's Nicolas Peifer in Group A at the season-ending tournament which only invites the world's top-ranked players.

There was also a victory in the group for Sweden's Stefan Olsson who defeated Britain's Gordon Reid 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 at the USTA National Campus.

In Group B, third seed Gustavo Fernandez of Argentina came through 6-2, 6-2 against Japan's Takashi Sanada.

Belgian Joachim Gerard came from behind to beat Frenchman Stephane Houdet 3-6, 7-6, 6-1.

In the women's event, top Dutch seed Diede de Groot breezed past Britain's Lucy Shuker 6-1, 6-0 in Group A.

Giulia Capocci battled back to beat Germany's Sabine Ellerbrock 1-6, 6-3, 7-6.

Group B saw victory for Japan's second seed Yui Kamiji, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 over Marjolein Buis of The Netherlands.

Another Dutch player, Aniek van Koot, beat Kgothatso Montjane of South Africa 7-5, 6-2.

In quads action, American top seed David Wagner began with a home victory, 6-3, 6-4 against South Africa's Lucas Sithole in Group A.

Group B saw Australia's second seed Dylan Alcott beat his compatriot Heath Davidson 6-2, 6-0.

The tournament invites the top eight men's and women's players and the top six in quads.

Group action is due to continue tomorrow.
