Lucinda Brand sprinted to victory at the fourth leg of the International Cycling Union (UCI) Cyclo-Cross World Cup season in Tabor.

The Dutch national champion would form part of a five rider leading group at the midway point of the women’s elite race in the Czech city.

Brand, the 2017 road world champion, was joined by her team-mate Annemarie Worst, Italy's Alica Arzuffi and the Belgian duo Ellen Van Loy and Sanne Cant.

The latter appeared the biggest threat, as the reigning world and World Cup champion.

Cant would slip back on the fifth and final lap of the race, however, with the remaining riders in the lead group stretching clear as a sprint finish loomed.

The fastest finisher proved to be Brand, with the Dutch rider coming through to claim victory in a time of 40min 19sec.

Worst would end five seconds adrift of her compatriot to finish as the runner-up, with Aruzffi ending a further second back to complete the podium.

The Italian was one second clear of Van Loy, who missed out on a top three finish.

The World Cup standings are still led by Marianne Vos, following her victories in two of the opening three events of the season.

The Dutch star opted not to compete in Tabor.

Mathieu van der Poel backed up his victory at the third World Cup in Bern, as well as the European Championship title he earned last week.

The Dutch rider broke clear on the fifth of the nine laps contested by the elite men’s field and continued to pull further clear towards the finish.

He crossed the line in a winning time of 1 hour, 2min, 43sec.

Belgium’s Michael Vanthorenhout battled to second place in 1:02:57, with Lars van der Haar of The Netherlands completing the podium in 1:03:03.

Belgium's Toon Aerts, who won the opening two events in the United States, finished in fourth place to preserve his overall World Cup lead.

Britain's Tom Pidcock triumphed in the men's under-23 event, with the 19-year-old taking victory in a time of 51:31.

He was 11 seconds clear of Jakob Dorigoni, with the Italian edging France's Antoine Benoist on the line to end as the runner-up.

The men's junior race saw a Belgian one-two, with Witse Meeussen securing victory in a time of 38:29.

There were four seconds separating the winner from his team-mate Thibau Nys, who finished second.

Germany’s Tom Lindnder completed the podium after ending a further second back.
