Quota places for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games were secured on day two of the Pan American Archery Championships in Medellin.

Among them were the four compound mixed teams who reached the semi-finals at the Campo tiro Con Arco - United States, hosts Colombia, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Compound will make its Pan American Games debut in the Peruvian captial next year.

"We’re very happy, we did a good job," said Mexico's Antonio Hidalgo.

"It's good for Mexico and for us.

"We enjoyed the result and my team-mate shot very well."

The US and Colombia will contest Sunday's (August 19) final after the Americans beat Puerto Rico 155-154 in the semi-final and the host nation pipped the Mexicans 156-154.

Twelve teams with the Olympic recurve bow have also booked spots at Lima 2019 - all of the semi-finalists and the two highest scoring quarter-final losers.

The US, Colombia, Mexico and Chile both qualified men's and women's teams.

Bolivia and Brazil qualified in the women's event with Cuba and Guatemala bagging men's spots.

Mexico and the US are due to meet in the women's final on Sunday.

The Mexicans knocked out Colombia 6-0 in the last four and the Americans ousted Brazil 5-4.

Chile and the US will clash in the men's final.

The South Americans beat Guatemala 5-1 in their semi-final clash.

The US beat Colombia 6-0 to book their place. 

Individual competitions will resume tomorrow after yesterday's qualification phase.
