The second semi-final line up has been confirmed at the International Federation for Athletes with Intellectual Impairments (INAS) Football World Championships in Sweden, after France thrashed the hosts today in Group A.

The first last four match was confirmed on Saturday (August 11), when Argentina thrashed Germany 8-0 in the same group to confirm their place as group winners.

Saudi Arabia and Poland were also already through before today’s play, having finished first and second respectively in Group B.

The final spot in Group A was still up for grabs, however, with France and Sweden both on six points before kick-off today.

Thanks to their better goal difference a draw would have been enough to see Sweden through, while the French simply had to win.

Knowing that it was France that started quicker at the Sannerudsvallen Stadium in Kil and they were 1-0 up after 15 minutes thanks to their number 10 Florent Paris.

When the half time whistle blew the score still read 1-0, but France were clearly the better side and in the second half it really started to show.

Substitute Morgan Lebraud doubled France’s lead in the 61st minute, before making it three with a penalty in the 69th.

Another goal just two minutes later sealed his hat-trick, before two more goals sealed a 6-0 thrashing.

From a team that had to win it was an emphatic performance.

France will now play Saudi Arabia in the semi-finals on Thursday (August 16).
