Goals either side of half-time by Sophie Bray and Lily Owsley gave hosts England a 2-0 win over South Korea at the Women's Hockey World Cup in London, and earned them a quarter-final meeting with defending champions The Netherlands.

In front of a packed and enthusiastic home crowd at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, England got off to a flyer as Bray seized on a loose ball to put them ahead after nine minutes of this crossover match for teams finishing in second and third place in their groups.

Britain's Rio 2016 heroine Maddie Hinch needed to make two great saves to maintain the lead.

Owsley wrapped things up with a 59th minute second goal, but now England must prepare themselves to face a team who signed off their group matches by inflicting a tournament record 12-1 defeat on Italy.

Earlier India kept their hopes of glory alive as they defeated Italy 3-0 in their crossover match thanks to goals from Lairemsiami, Neha Goyal and Vandana Katariya.

India now face Ireland as this International Hockey Federation event progresses in gripping fashion.

Tomorrow the first two quarter-finals will be played as Germany meet Spain and Australia face Argentina.
