Seattle's Granite Curling Club will host the 2019 USA Curling Mixed Doubles National Championships from February 27 to March 3.

The mixed doubles discipline has grown in popularity worldwide since becoming an Olympic sport at Pyeongchang 2018.

The winning team from the national event, which has been contested each year since 2008, will go on to represent the United States at the 2019 World Mixed Doubles Championship in Norway next April.

In 2016, the US won its first world mixed doubles medal when Joe Polo and Tabitha Peterson captured the bronze.

The Granite Curling Club hosted the 2017 National Championships and the 2014 Junior Nationals.

"The Granite Curling Club is pleased to support national competitions by once again bringing the Mixed Doubles Championship to Seattle," said club spokesman Doug Potter.

"Mixed doubles has grown both nationally and locally and this is our chance to further expose our newest members and the community to the newest Olympic curling event - and to showcase our club to curlers across the nation."

A qualifying event will take place in December to narrow the field for the national event in Seattle.

The host site for the qualifying event is still being determined but the competition dates are set as December 19 to 23.
