Hungary won a further five titles and Canada's Sophia Jensen picked up her third gold of the competition on the final day of the International Canoe Federation Under-23 and Junior Canoe Sprint World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Jensen won her third gold in the junior women's C2 500 metres alongside Julia Lilley Osende, thereby adding to her C1 500m and 200m titles from earlier in the week.

Jensen's gold today solidifies her as the most successful athlete of the championships.

"I knew we had medal potential for sure, we've trained really hard and I knew we could do anything if we just put our heads down," she said.

"I'm a little bit tired today, so I'm glad this is the last one and I'm excited to be going home."

While Jensen now has three golds, several others have two, including Germany's Tim Hecker and Conrad-Robin Schneider who won the under-23 C2 500m.

Elsewhere Hungary's Tamara Takacs celebrated her birthday by winning the under-23 women's K1 500m in the last few metres ahead of New Zealand's Aimee Fisher.

She described it afterwards as a "very tough" race.

"Aimee Fisher was very strong and very fast in the first 200 metres, but I think I have the best supporters so my last 100 metres was very fast," she said.

"I didn't look at anyone else, I just focussed on my lane and tried to do my best."

Another Hungarian in Karina Biben won two golds today, one of which came in the junior women's K2 500m alongside Olga Bako.

"I'm really happy to have a partner like Karina, we are best friends on and off the water," she said.

"We are always on the same wavelength.

"I hope we can paddle together with each other in the next years."

Benedek Tibor Kos, another Hungarian, also won his second gold of the competition today.

He took the men's under-23 K1 500m final to add to the gold he won in the K1 1,000m on Friday (July 27).

"This day is so crazy," he said.

"My favourite event is the 1,000, because the 500 is so fast.

"My start was bad and the end was so difficult."

The closest race of the day came in the men's under-23 K4 500m, which was won by the Slovakian team of Samo Balaz, Milan Frana, Csaba Zalka and Adam Botek, who finished just 0.035 seconds in front of Russia.

Russia did pick up another gold elsewhere though, as did the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Belarus.
