Three home athletes captured gold medals at the Para-triathlon World Cup races held in the Canadian city of Magog, in Quebec.

For visually impaired athlete Jessica Tuomela and her guide Lauren Babineau, who joined forces this year, the event - the fifth of the International Triathlon Union Para-triathlon World Cup season - ended in triumph.

"We worked really well together today," Toumela told the Canadian Press.

"We knew we had a good ride when the other men's teams were patting us on the back saying how impressed they were.

"This race was our race, and we fought hard together.

"We pushed each other all day, but never forgot to have fun along the way."

Gold in the women's PTS5 category went to another Canadian, Kamylle Frenette.

"The swim was tough," said Frenette.

"It felt like a wave pool out there, but the bike went well and the run was awesome.

"It was nice to have a flat course on the run.

"It was a great day all around."

Meanwhile, Jon Dunkerley of Ottawa and his guide James Cook of Victoria won the men's visually impaired classification.
