Ireland and Bangladesh both moved a step closer to booking their place at the International Cricket Council Women's World Twenty20 as they recorded their second victories at the qualifying tournament in The Netherlands.

The Irish side dispatched Scotland by nine wickets in Amstelveen, while Bangladesh beat the host nation by seven wickets in Utrecht.

Both teams are on course to qualify for the semi-finals, where the winner of each match will qualify for the Women's World Twenty20 in the West Indies in November.

Ireland restricted Scotland to 98-2 in their 20 overs as they produced a disciplined bowling display at the VRA Cricket Ground.

Scotland's wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce carried her bat for 49 not out but only managed two boundaries.

Laura Delany and Lucy O'Reilly picked up the wickets for Ireland as they set up what would prove to be a comfortable run chase.

Ireland's openers Clare Shillington and Cecelia Joyce set about reaching the target and they did so with ease.

Shillington was the main aggressor as she scored 47 from 39 balls before she was captain Kathryn Bryce, while Joyce finished unbeaten on 35 not out.

Joyce and Gaby Lewis racked up the rest of the required runs with 26 balls to spare as Ireland cemented their place in top spot in the group.

Rumana Ahmed and Fahima Khatun led the charge as they took a combined 6-5 in just six overs in a dominant bowling performance from Bangladesh.

Shamima Sultana scored a 12-ball 14 to spearhead Bangladesh to a comfortable victory which keeps them in pole position in Group A.

In the other contest in the group, Papua New Guinea claimed a dramatic two-wicket win over the United Arab Emirates at the VRA Cricket Ground.

The tournament continues on Tuesday (July 10) following a rest day tomorrow.
