Women's freestyle action took pride of place today at the Cadet World Championships ©UWW

Japan enjoyed a successful day of women's freestyle finals as the United World Wrestling Cadet World Championships continued in Zagreb.

Akari Fujinami started the success for the Asian superpower by winning the women's under-49 kilograms competition at the Dom Sportova.

She was awarded gold after a 9-1 victory over Russian opponent Polina Lukina. 

Natallia Varakina of Belarus shared bronze with American Tiare Lynn Masako Dizon Ikei.

Nonoka Ozaki then defeated Anna Hella Szel of Hungary by a 10-0 margin in the under-57kg category.

Bronze medals were shared by Irina Ringaci of Moldova and Aryna Martynava of Belarus.

A third Japanese success was achieved by Honoka Nakai when she won a tight under-65kg final against Xinru Zhou of China 2-0.

India's Sonam Sonam and Russia's Ekaterina Glukhareva each took bronze medals.

United States also enjoyed success today courtesy of Emily Shilson in the under-43kg event.

She defeated Shahana Nazarova of Azerbaijan as Ukraine's Amina Ponomarova and Russia's Viktoriia Aleksandrova shared bronze.
