Defending champions Brazil beat Paraguay today to make it three wins out of three at the 2018 Pan American Men’s Handball Championship in Nuuk in Greenland.

The holders triumphed 40-14 to successfully follow up their Group B victories against Canada and Colombia at Godthåbhallen.

Hosts Greenland trail them on goal difference after maintaining their unbeaten start with a narrow 31-29 win over Uruguay.

Also in Group B, Canada defeated Colombia 25-24 to get themselves off the mark at the third time of asking.

Colombia remain winless and have been eliminated along with Paraguay.

In Group A, Chile took the outright lead by overcoming Peru 36-13. 

They now have three victories from as many matches.

Argentina, the only other unbeaten team in Group A, were not in action today.

Puerto Rico picked up their first win by beating Guatemala 32-21.

Action in Nuuk is due to resume on Wednesday (June 20).

The Group A schedule sees Argentina face Guatemala and Peru go up against Puerto Rico.

As for Group B, the matches are between Paraguay and Canada, Uruguay and Colombia, and Greenland and Brazil.

The event is offering the final three places for the 2019 World Handball Championship.

Competition is due to run until Sunday (June 24).
