Canada's Aurelie Rivard broke the S10 200 metres freestyle world record on the opening day of the World Para Swimming World Series in Berlin today.

Rivard swam a superb time of 2min 8.64sec in a race in which swimmers spanning different classifications were judged by points rather than times.

She duly managed 916 points.

Israel's S5 swimmer Inbal Pezaro took silver in 2:55.22 - scoring 855 points.

Bronze was secured by Zulfiya Gabidullina of Kazakhstan.

The S3 swimmer clocked 3:35 for 825 points.

The Netherlands' Chantalle Zijderveld was among other winners today at the Berlin SSE in the German capital.

She clocked a time of 1:15.62 in the 100m breaststroke which - when her SB9 category  was considered - scored 984 points.

Team-mate Lisa Kruger, from the same division, took silver with 1:15.85 for 971 points.

S12 swimmer Elena Krawzow clocked 1:19,80 for 867 points in third.
