Canada's women began their Hockey Series campaign with a mammoth victory in Salamanca in Mexico.

The Canadians, ranked 21st in the world, are favourites for the round-robin tournament at the Cancha de Hockey Siglo XXI.

They opened their account on day two of the competition with a massive 28-0 win over Guatemala.

This was the second big defeat inside two days for the Guatemalans, who also lost 30-0 to hosts Mexico yesterday.

In the other women's match today, Mexico added a second victory to their name by beating Panama 13-0.

It means they top the table in the early going of the five-team tournament.
